  1. I remember when Obergefell passed in 2015. I was celebratory, yet cautious. I studied at Frei Universität in Berlin and my major is German studies. I learned how Berlin throughout the Weimar period was a bastion of sexual liberation, LBGT understanding and rights. (Ex: Die Institut für Sexualwissenschaft) Then with the rise of the Nazis, all of that was destroyed in a very short period of time! This has always reminded me that rights for minority groups are not set in stone. America is learning this lesson right now the hard way!
