Ah, yes the college Republicans, I remember how insufferable those douchebags were! Snotty, pompous, always clean cut, suit wearing money/greed worshipers, pandering to the crank ideas of the christian fundamentalists! DX
However, with the addition of this racist alt-right trash, I can only imagine how much worse they are now! (Shudder) DDX
As for the college Democrats, HA! What a dysfunctional mess of fools! No message, no ideas, just pandering to the whims of the DNC. Eh, Just like the, mess there in today... Hmm... The past has molded the present :(

***** American RW Libertarian ideology is so appealing due to its simplistic answer for all the nations issues. (blame gov for everything, private sector can do no wrong.) Then it gets its followers hooked into a web of conspiracy theories and tons of Mccarthyist rhetoric, They stay focused on this crap while, ignoring the sea of corporate lobbying and favoritism in DC that, in turn, expands the power and scope of the government.
Some RW Libertartians I've talked to are smarter than this and don't fall for this ruse, (unlike the braindead teabags!). However, they then, as always, blame the gov for this corruption and not the corporate lobbyists and the oligarchs who fund them. Of course as always they're answer is more deregulation and more push for a true free market.
However, this leads to a conundrum, They admit that corporations constantly use the government to get favorable perks and benffits, (The anti-thesis of free market ideology) but at the same time these same corps are the ones funding the spreading of free market ideology. But... If a free market destroy's the lobbying and revolving door system in DC, Mega-corps would ultimately be destroying their own cushy system and thus their own power in the government?
Conclusion, the dogma of the free market fundementalism and the interests of transnational corporations contradict each other... Thus the only logical conclusion is that mega-corps 'never' intended to follow the market fundementalist dogma in the first place.
Of course, many RW Libertarians can not see this contradiction due to being blinded by Austrian school bunk or Ayn Rand's nietzschean worship of perfect, moral CEO's and Bankers. Cause then they'd have to admit that they're heroes are, in fact, hypocritical, opportunist crooks, which, in turn their whole ideology and worldview crumbles like a house of cards.

BramSLI1 You hit the nail on the head about the Soviet system. It consolidated all social, economic and political powers into one entity, the government, there was no checks or balances. Leading to its total descent into totalitarianism, especially under Stalin. Oddly enough, one of the tenants of Marxian-Leninism was that the state was going to be dissolved away over time by the government, leading to a stateless society (communism).
Of course this never happened... However, I find here an ugly parallel in American libertarianism, especially voluntarism. They expect that a government completely under the control of private interest will somehow voluntarily dissolve it powers, leading to the a stateless, anarcho-capitalist world. (The last term being a total oxymoron.) This idea is even more delusional than the Marxian-Leninist idea, as this model of supposed anarchism keeps the capitalist class structures and even glorifies and praises the most sociopathic behaviors in the pursuit of profit.
As of now social democracy with democratic socialist elements is really the best system mankind has come up with.

***** Anarcho-capitalism makes the same crankish/utopian argument that the anarchists and commies made in the late 19th century, "Get rid of all government and everyone will somehow live rationally and voluntarily with each other."
pphh.. Please... If such a massive power vacuum is created the whole idea that the powerful are not going to exploit that vacuum for their own gain is beyond naive. Especially when pertaining to a group that puts unlimited greed and selfishness as prime virtues. (Yeah, like they're actually going to stay pure and ethical due to some strict economic fundementalism, that ultimately no one would be even watching them to make sure they follow properly. The whole ideal is absolutely ridiculous and built on nothing but blind faith.
The Paul-bot club is kinda faded out now, (Rand doesn't have the same flare as Ron did.) The thing with Ron Paul was that he hit the nail on the head, when it came to the evils of the MIC and our never-ending warmongering, the out of control NSA surveilance machine, plus his whole legalize pot thing was very popular among millenials. However, under all that was a plan to 'shock doctrine' the crap out of us with a massive dose Austrian school crankery. Plus they're was his lovely economic policies permitting Jim Crow policies to be allowed once again. (Probably the reason why I've very rarely ever run into a black RW Libertarian.)
Still, He never had a chance in hell of winning, even with that Wall St. wank Peter Thiel funding him. But many of his crankish austro-tard economic policies are now spewed daily from our Teabag infested congress.

Kraz Samosval
"But you can't just lock a set of ideas or laws that will remain untouched throughout the centuries"
Sorry, but that argument wouldn't float here,Even the far left here (well what is considered far left) still hold that 200+ year old document with some impunity. And the American Right 'forget about it!' the evil commie insults would start flying instantly.
Ah yes the old 2nd amendment, for the Right it's like the most scared out of all of the constitutions amendments.Start bashing it and our right wingers start getting downright homicidal! Personally I don't care that much about it, however I'd be dammed if ever would ever support a total repeal of it. Still it has gotten really out of hand over here, some states have passed guns everywhere laws, (like Georgia) and I do mean everywhere, bars, churches you name it. Hell, we had one of our supreme court justices ponder that the 2nd amendment might permit the personal ownership of rocket lauchers!!
Also I'm a Native American and your comment on how the 2nd amendment was used to evict Native Americans from their land. really resonates with me. Its ugly shit like that why the downright worship of our founding fathers gets under my skin at times. But then most Americans never learn these ugly, stories from our past, (not at leat until one gets into college.) Grade school classes, (elementary to high school) I hate to say are badly sanitized of any actions, events and circumstances that make the US look bad, Grade school classes absolutely reek of this American exceptionalist propaganda.

I gotta say, for the president's of my lifetime (Born in 87) I'd explain it like this from my research:
Reagan - Awful!!
- (Stupid, senile corporate shill poisoned the long term health of the republic with his anti-government, pro-corporate wingnut BS! Also started bible-thumper pandering. (Gag!)) Was an absolute monster in Central and South America! But 2nd term stabilization of Cold War tension forces me to reluctantly give him that.
Bush H - Medicore/Bad?
- (Semi-decent person in the WH, Cold War ended, however who did give us nasty Uncle Clarence.)
Clinton - Mediocre
- (Strong economy, but truly represented the corporate take over of the Dems, Healthy middle class begins to shrink and rot.
Bush W - Very Bad!
- (More supply-side BS, plus the Idiot exploited 9/11 to get us into two quagmire wars that ruined our reputation, continued to hollow out the middle class.)
Obama - Mediocre/Good?
- (Stabilized the economy after the crash of 2008, but was too chicken and corrupt to be the new FDR we had voted for in 08. Also, not savvy enough to properly counteract the openly, racist backlash afterwards. Too many olive branches.. Not enough spine.. Which led to...
Tr(Dump) - God Awful!!!
- More supply-side BS, along with far, far worse... Openly pandered to white supremacists, The bible thumpers showed their true ugly colors, destroyed our judicial system, His revolting cult around him and finally what happened on Jan 6th being the crap icing on a massive cake of shit. and this shit is STILL not over yet!?
Biden [Still in progress] - Bad
- Given a massive pile of shit, but really is not showing the attitude and resolve to deal with it. May open the door to something far worse than Dump!?...

Kraz Samosval No the US gov does not pay any fees to natives for occupying their land. However, the reservations do have a bit more personal soverignty and autonomy in the states they reside in. For most tribes investing in tourism and casinos is the only real way out of poverty. Which is what my tribe has done. Also the location of the reservation is very important. My the tribe the Oneida nation of Wisconsins reservation is right beside the city of Green Bay and has a large casino on the reservation in which a large sum of it's profits goes right back to the tribe. Even though I live in East Tennessee, I'm registered with the tribe and get approx $3000 every year. (My old man is full-blooded native and my mom is German thus I'm 1/2 native 1/2 German but my mom registered me with Dad's tribe when I was very young and that's why I consider myself a native American.
However is really only applies to tribes on in the eastern US. Out west the reservations are huge but usually in largely uninhabited regions. (Basically the US Gov gave the survivng natives the pieces of shit land that the whitle settlers did not want.) Due to this distance and far proximity; tourism and casinos don't do well out there, and some tribe just plain reject it due to moral reasons. Thus many of these out west reservations have some of the worst poverty in the entire nation.!
Natives usually don't sell beer. However out west, some vile hustling rats like to build large liquor stores of right beside these super poor native reservations and exploit the droves of alcoholic natives. Disgusting, that shit absolutely makes my blood boil.
So the US gov pretty much ignores natives and their problems, however I do have to give them one thing... When I singed up for Obamacare. I did get a native only susbidy that pretty much gives me free healthcare. I consider this a blessing, (Teascum go to helll!). Still I do feel a bit guilty about it. I am a super healthy fit man in my late 20's and ultimately, (except for the possible unexpected accident or injury) don't really need it that badly, I would gladly take a less extensive plan, If I could and give my free extensive plan to someone in far worse medical straights than I am, but I don't think such a thing is possible in any way.

Kraz Samosval The US gun craziness really has nothing to do with hunting. Most of these wacko laws have arisen due to far right BS conspiracy theories. The list is pretty extensive many mostly dealing with Pres Obama, The UN, and the conspiratorial NWO. 1. (Obama's a commie/muslim who wants to take your guns.) 2. (The UN's a commie organization that wants world disarmament and is establishing the NWO.) Many Christian righties consider the UN and EU the govs of the coming antichrist of Book of Revelation. Any talk of gun control of regulation is met with the vitriolic spewing of fear mongering and doomsday talk pertaining to these theories. Even mass tragedy is not enough of break this propaganda.
Example: After the Sandy Hook tragedy I listened to vile shit about how the Obama administration had planned Sandy Hook in a coup effect to steal peoples guns. And that the familes of the dead were just actors on the Obama payrole.
This shit makes me physically sick, more concerned about a fucking conspiracy theory then brush of these parents losses with such calousness.
When I has studying at Frei Universität in Berlin, Germany I didn't hear any of this shit: no gun worship, no wingnut conspiracy theories, no Book of Revelation fearmongering. Hell, Even criticism against the EU was far more based in reality and evidence than Orwelian newsspeak talking points. But I think what I remember most is when I was there was being able to freely discuss real world issues...
(ex: rising wealth inequality, climate change, future ideals and technologies etc:)
Back home in TN the only place I can talk these issues is here on the net, or with my hippie mom. Outside of that bubble I'm always arguing with the wingnut idiots who think The rich are job creators, (barfs into a barfbag...) taxes are theft, ban the gay,and we need more Jesus in the gov. (Beats head against the wall...) To put it I care greatly about pressing 21st century issues and get so sick and tired of wasting my time arguing with asinine issues that have nothing to do with anything except, conspiratorial fearmongering, elitist defenses of extreme greed and totalitarian theocratic asperations.
(Sigh) It's hard to be a leftie in the US South...)

Kraz Samosval I'm glad to hear the Greece isn't as horrible shape as I had thought. I hate to say it but I've been falling for MSM sensationalism, I'm rather embarrased as I should know how cruddy ABC, CBS, NBC are at reporting news outside the nation.
I am really impressed how your nation is also investing in green energy technologies. I knew that Germany was pushing renewables 'big time' but I didn't know that eastern European nation were getting onboard as well. I sorry but I have to say that when I thought of Eastern Europe I still had that stupid American stereotype of it still being dirty dingy with crumbling rows of commie apartment towers. From talking with you I've learned that that stupid sterotype is total BS. Bulgaria sounds like it is really making strides in pursuing 21st century issues.
In the states the support for green energy is still rather partisian, with liberals and progressives supporting it and conservatives more hessitant or disapproving cause they think that the issue shouldn't be pushed by the gov. However even in the most red, wingnut states technologies such technologies as fuel efficient cars and solar panels are finally appearing. Since the prices are now at a range that the upper middle classes can afford, and no longer the domain of rich environmental lefties. (Not the lower middle or poor yet though...)
Unfortunately the prickish fossil fuel companies are fighting it tooth and nail and in the process showing what hypocricital scumbags they really are. Ex: The Koch Brothers, (I name I'm certain you've heard in your American political affairs research.) are lobbying thorough a lobbying group called ALEC to get taxes placed on individual solar panel owners, in order to raise their prices and slow down the growth of the burgeoning industry. The hypocrisy is that the Kochs are infamous for they're support and pushing for hyper-laissez faire capitalism. And yet here they are using the evil gov that constantly they say ruins the free market to deliberately cripple another competing industry. These two pricks are the biggest crooks in the nation. Hell, right now (thanks to Citizens United and Mccutchon) it's been reported that they've been throwing millions upon millions (the two crooks are worth over 100 billion US!) at our politicians and worse now our judges.
They're literally buying the government, then using a preversion of the 1st amendment to justify it. Absolutely sickening!!

PixelDansIronFist My God that's awful, No wonder I don't like An-caps or economic RW Libertarians. Its ultimately turn into a perverse, pseudo-moralistic defense of private sector sociopathery!
These dumb kids really don't know what they're getting into. However, from the demographic it attracts; its quite understandable why they fall for it...
Most RW libertarians are upper middle to upper class kids that have lived sheltered lives, usually on their parents money. And have no idea about how the people on the other side of the tracks live. Thus they come to the totally asinine conclusions such as those people are inferior, lazy etc: while ignorantly ignoring all the (non-hard work related) privileges that they have received in their lives.
Thus when they discover Ayn Rand they just dive right into it; As her works are like gasoline on a fire for their pompous, extreme egos.
I think what pisses me off the most is that I want to debate and research new possible ideas such a as anarcho-models of socialism, coming green technologies, direct democracy etc: You know, things that could ultimately save humanity from a civilization collapse and possible mass extinction. Yet here in the states it feel like your're fighting uphill battle against a bunch of whinny, entitled hyper-self-centered brats who just want to indulge themselves in their obsession with greed worship and soulless consumerism and screw anyone or anything else.
It feels like all of the political, societal, economic innovation of this new 21st century is occurring outside the US. While i'm stuck with deluded assholes wet dreaming about a return of the gilded age.

It's not really education, but the massive RW media machine, especially in the red states. It has utterly brainwashed so many into voting for these predators.
And most of them do not vote on economic policy, but social EX: guns, gays, anti-abortion racism jingoism etc: It's a toxic mess that really started with St. Ronnie the stupid and his pandering to the religious right!
What really worry's me is that even though Trump's approval is massively in the tank. The Dems are too, and mostly due to their base being awake to what utter corporate whores they are. And they're sick of it! This leads them to not voting. And thus the 30% of crazies and deplorables are allowed to sweep the nation.
If we had had Bernie in 2016, instead of cankles, I am 100% certain that this disaster wouldn't be happening, as he would have massively energized the dems base just like Obama did in 08, and trounced the crazy RW wingnuts.
Sadly... that isn't the case... We are in a "massive" mess, and I'm not sure how we're gonna get out of it :(
It's time like this that make me wish I had continued pursuing my desire to live in Germany....
Even though the EU is in peril too... as Brexit clearly showed.

This is SO embarrassing! I live in Blount Country, TN.
However, there is a silver lining to this. I was driving home from work, and passed the courthouse and saw the protesters around 150 to 200 or so. At first I was annoyed as I thought is was the dominionist teabagger brigade. However, as I drove by I saw rainbow flags and banners about love and equality. I gave then a thumbs up as I drove by and got a hoot of cheers. On the other side of the courthouse, I saw signs, as I drove by, that looked like the crap the WBC loves to display. But, there were only about 20 people there at the most. Ha! I almost felt sorry for them... almost..
This county is a red state bag Bible-thumper haven. But this really has taught me something... good socially liberal people come out in droves when faced with such stupidity and bigotry.
My mom wrote the city council and told them rather bluntly, why were they wasting time with such nonsense?... And that they should deal with actual issues the county has. Like the tons of potholes, our roads are littered with.

It's hard... very hard. Republicans are soooo irritating and infuriating cause they are so black and white in their thinking! It drives me nuts!! There is no such thing a nuance to them, especially the religious ones. DX
(But even in my anger, I still manage to feel sorry for them. I hate seeing people getting constantly conned and ripped off.)
But Gahh!! It's always the same reprocessed talking points I been hearing since I was little; no changes at all. The same gov is bad/evil garbage they've been told to spout since that rotten, lying crook St. Ronnie the stupid!
However, when I 'do' manage to get through to them on some things, they just short circuit. Mainly cause I hit them with deep topics and ideas that are 'never' discussed on Faux News, and hence have no programmed rebuttals.
And I'm not talking Bernie buzzword talking points, (which actually get on my nerves!) Even though I still highly respect the guy. No, I'm talking deep systematic processes, that I've been thinking about for the past nine years since the crash of 08. Very hard to explain or even put into a political box, but all I can really say it that my ideals are libertarian left? with some tolerated nuance to the economic right, 'if' certain variables are allowed, or if needed checks and balances are put into place. I detest rigid economic dogmas from either the right or left!!

Yes, It should absolutely be free... However, with very strict rules and regulations!!
One, no non-essential classes!
(Ex: The history of rock and roll) yeah they had that at my uni. You want those, you pay for them yourself, the taxpayer shouldn't be on the hook for those kind of add-on classes. (Unless it's part of your degree)
Two, strict grade requirements.
(You send a semester partying and flunk your classes, then the bills on you)
And three,
If you do flunk out with bad grades. Then you should have to pay back the tax payer!!
I may be a far leftie, but, as you can see, I deeply believe in personal responsibility :)
