Sacrelige! The Lunar Module was made by Grumman. It landed men on the Moon. North American Rockwell built the Command Module and Service Module. They brought men to lunar orbit. Both were equally crucial parts of the mission, but hey, accuracy.😊

It got the designation fairly late and by then lower numbers had been assigned to various prototypes - some took a very long time to develop. Afaik some got their numbers assigned when they existed only on paper.

@stevensonDonnie Thanks for the correct spelling of sacrilege. I didn't have time to look it up and wanted to get the comment in quickly.

@joelcheek3494 Stanley Kubrick left his most dedicated cameraman on the surface. Actually, the engineers had calculated how fast the ascent module would accelerate and used this to preset how fast the electric motor on the mount would pan up. The camera and mount must have been triggered by radio from within the LM once the firing circuit was activated. On Apollo 16 it moved too late or slowly and missed most of the ascent. They nailed it on Apollo 17.

@immortalvicegrip8000 I heard the same tiny mish-mash of the audio and also made it out as an indistinct 840.

@wbertie2604 True for the Moon, but not for Earthly seas. But a Moon-sea fits perfectly - the LM was built by Grumman, after all.

@allangibson8494 Yes, that was the one plane NA built for the Navy. (I think it was the only one.) The FJ-1 Fury was derived from the F-86, it wasn't a predecessor. The Navy needed an interim carrier fighter until their newest dedicated carrier fighter was ready. IIRC the Fury had larger wings and of course beefed up landing gear.

@johnlovett8341 Afaik a video can't be edited once it's posted, it can only be taken down and the new one put in its place - but then all the Comments are lost.

@xgford94 Grumman in Bethpage, I know it well. My dad worked there as a draftsman, worked on jets like the Cougar and Panther. My uncle worked there as an engineer - one thing he worked on was the LM itself! My dad had moved to another career before that.

@allangibson8494 {grumble grumble} The jump to the YF-86 wasn't that direct. Not just a different wing, but it was mounted on the base of and blended into the fuselage. The YF-86 was well into development with a straight wing before it shifted to a swept one. - if there weren't significant differences from the FJ-1 then why was a different plane with a straight wing under development? To my eye there are other modifications to the fuselage. I'll concede most of your point, but lineage can be a hard thing to define. Or maybe I'm just being obstinate. :)
