  15.  @flowerchickenhairsparkle6779  Yes. Churchill was, by a country mile, the outstanding war leader of any of the main belligerents. He rallied the allied cause in the vital days of 1940 and 1941. He clearly saw the way ahead for the conduct of the war, and what should happen in the post-war world. Things went wrong with planning for the post-war world when Roosevelt got involved.

  28.  @etiangfrederick6257  Err... its a definate no. Australia, Cananda, Newfoundland, New Zealand, and South Africa were Dominions with their own foreign policy. India, although less autonmous, could instigate conscription. Britain was in no moe position to enforce conscription on the colonies, or even Northern Ireland.

Furrther, on its own, Britain cracked the far more complex Gehimeschreiber (Secretwriter) technology used for German High Command messages.

I watched it when it was first broadcast, in early 1977. Probably about 25 years before Big Woody/Para Dave was born. Why don't people learn?..I never bluff.
