  1. Is Leslie Van Houten a danger to society now, aged 73? It does not seem very likely. Is the time spent in prison by Van Houten, and others a deterent to people who might be contemplating such a crime? It is hard to see how. After all, volunteering to go out to murder a complete stranger on behalf of somebody else for no discernable personal gain, is hardly the act of someone in their right mind. Is the time spent in prison by Van Houten a just punishment for the crimes she committed? Who can say? Not me. I am not a relative of Mrs LaBianca.
