  3. Beevor is full of shit. Britain was not in need of a General hero at the time of Alamein. The heroes were the ordinary people and the thrust of government pr was to stress the contribution of the masses. Montgomery was no more a prima donna than any other allied commander. Beevor ads nothing new to the subjects writes about. He writes trash for the chauvinistic American Market. I hope he sees this.
