'According to Anthony Beevor, during Fall Blau the Soviets had put out peace feelers, asking the Nazis, 'well what would you require for peace'?' What evidence does he cite?

@rafopderand8524 Where is that documented?

@flyhi2773 Surely all of this would have come out at some time if it was in German archives? It is hard to see why Stalin would have looked for peace in 1943 - he must have known that Russia would win. Stalin may have sanctioned some sort of contact to stoke up Britain and America and made sure they knew about it. There would have to be real evidence found to make this story credible. The west would not passed up an opportunity to embarass the USSR during the Cold War with this info.

@kaczynskis5721 If that were true then yes, Russia would be considering that they were negotiating from a position of strength. I would need to see reliable evidence of any negotiations.

@kaczynskis5721 If it is in any work by Anthony Beevor the it should be treated with caution.

@davethompson3326 But how would the Germans have won? By November 1941 they were 1,000 miles from their start line manning a 2,000 mile front in some of the worst conditions in the world. By the end of Barbarossa they had lost 1 million men.

Germany's defeat was inevitable from defeat in the Battle of Britain condemning them to a two front war.
