@Celes Err... Hitler got told by Britain and France - invade Poland and you are at war with France, with the biggest army in the world, and Britain, with the biggest navy in the world. What happened?, he managed to get past France but never romotely had anything like the maritime capability to defeat Britain. He then attacked Russia with all but zero chance of prevailing in the contest between the two countries. He then, with no obligation to do so, declared war on the USA, the biggest industrial power in the world, a country 3,000 miles away. He urged Japan to start a war because he believed it would keep Britain from attempting to try to liberate France. Hardly the actions of someone with a full deck.

@coloradoing9172 'when the Anglo-Polish alliance was signed, Lord Halifax commented "We do not think this guarantee will be binding." ' Is apocryphal. There is no evidence that Halifax made this statement. However, if it turns out to be true.. It is even more to Britain's credit - in that it went to war on behalf of Poland without being obliged to. Well done Britain - the greatest country in the world.

It was hardly the act of a sane person to start a war with Britain, Russia and the USA, and then in the middle of that war, to divert resources so as to kill millions of Gypsies, Jews, Poles and so on.

@Celes 'Uhm he didn't declared war to Britain and France.' Britain and France made their position crystal clear...if Germany attacked Poland, then Germany would be at war with Britain and France. Perhaps you think it was acceptable for Germany to invade Poland?.. 'And IF his plan succeed this will exactly keep British from attempting to make D-day.' Which plan was that? The one where he took Germany into a two-front war? 'And he never wanted to wage war with British Empire.' Ah... then his best bet would have been not to threaten the peace of Europe. After all, no country was threatening Germany.

He did not get anywhere by just banging on about the Treaty of Versailles, the jews, and all the rest of his claptrap, as German election results showed. The Polish crimes against Germany were so great, the Nazis had to dress dead concentration camp inmates in German military uniforms and leave them at a radio station so as to give Germany a flimsy pretext for starting the war. No sane person would rate any other date than that in September 1939, when Germany caused a war that involved Germany, Poland, France, Britain and Russia as he start of the war. The idea that the USA kept Britain afloat in the war is absurd. In 1940 Britain had the world’s largest Navy, the world’s largest merchant fleet, the world’s largest shipbuilding industry, Europe’s largest auto industry, Europe’s largest aircraft industry, the world’s most advanced air defence system, and it was reading the German armed forces coded messages. Germany had zero chance of defeating Britain. And what was the USA doing at this time?.. ‘He wanted to force Britain into peace by bombing campaigns.’ Your words. His peace on his terms, after he had invaded Poland, Belgium, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, France, and so on. If Hitler had wanted peace, all he had to do was to stick the agreement he made in 1938. ‘Also he didn't attack Russia he attacked the USSR and was hoping that all the internal conflicts would create an internal war within the USSR just like in WW1’ Your words. Only in Hitler’s overheated imagination could there be a vision of the Russian people overthrowing the communist government with the Germans on Russian soil. But surely there must more relevant platforms than YouTube comments for up and coming Neo-Nazi like you to spout their nonsense.

@david-spliso1928 By the time of the Soviet Counter attack at Moscow on the 5th December, 1941, the Germans were a thousand miles from their home land, having to man a 2,000 mile front, in some of the harshest conditions in the world. BARBAROSSA cost them one million casualties - a quarter of force they started the campaign with. By that time Russian heavy industry was 1,000 miles further East. Germany was never going to win in Russia.
