A confession obtained in that way is unusable in court, so if the bloke was guilty, he might have walked. C. This stuff whips up local vigilanties into taking the law into their own hands. In Portsmouth, some years ago a mob burnt down the house of an innocent man who happened to have the same name as a known peodophile. If people had been killed, the arsonists involved should have been sent to prison for a very long time. Who is to know if a bloke like this Alex is only masking his own latent tendencies?..
