I hope you’ll connect to ur Japanese culture some day on ur own
7
@powderskier5547 they probably can’t afford to
5
@larryjane06 yeah it’s kinda like South Korea. Some similarities yet so many differences. Tokyo is just like Seoul but South Korea is like a small version of a western place with their own culture with it whereas Japan has their own culture and style. I noticed this while watching a vid comparing the two countries
4
Yeah in Korea that’s the opposite and Thailand is the only East Asian country that allows Sam sex marriage
4
There are books although sadly here in the U.S many governments had schools ban them because here in most U.S states being in the LGBTQ+ is considered a bad thing and ofc many states have banned the CRT (Critical Racial Theory) on what can be taught on Race, Sex, etc. so for Asian culture they can only go as far as the Vietnam & Korean War for example. It’s so sad what white racist states and their governors are doing

@AWildReen I’m From the U.S as well. I used to live in Arkansas before I moved to North Carolina. As for Spanish I can only speak a little I can only say simple conversations as a starter
3
@jun6145 Thailand also allows same sex marriage they were the first Asian country to allow such
3
@jun6145 wdym Taiwan as well?
3
@rin-er9rl u should probably get back to learning it but only if u want to
2
yeah I found out where I used to attend school in a small town they have international exchange students from Spain Germany and France. My friend told me that many can all speak English well since they learned it in school but they help them out if there’s a word they don’t know the meaning of in English
2
U can go there now if u want to connect with ur culture but saving up helps
2
Same as a white Latino but for me I realized being racist isn’t good and I regret being racist growing up
2
Yeah LesseraFim’s Hunjin (she’s in a kpop gg called LesseraFim Now) was born in korea but grew up in the U.S and felt like a no body until she saw BTS win a BBMA and that’s when she felt like a some body. She knew for her being in Korea she’d have more chances of a music career than in the U.S But ofc in my opinion I think she’s more lucky than others who are born and raised in The U.S but those who don’t get to connect with their culture enough like other Korean Americans because of certain circumstances and/or backgrounds
2
@AWildReen sometimes but only sometimes I felt like I was even being racist to myself because of it
2
Yeah it reminds me of all the comments I read from a vid someone posted about P1Harmony’s Keeho (Stephen Yoon) being born and raised in Canada and at one point was ashamed of being Korean
1
@Justcetriyaart yeah even as someone from Arkansas and now lives in North Carolina not everyone from my old school acted country
1
Yeah even the mixed guys. Kpop Soloist Kim Samuel is half Mexican American and half Korean. Female Kpop soloist Jeon Somi is half Korean and half Canadian Dutch. And Vernon from kpop boygroup Seventeen is Half Korean and half French American. Because all of them were raised in korea they faced lots of discrimination and racism. Racism and discrimination that can happen in the U.S. luckily they were able to overcome it ❤️🎉

@missplainjane3905 nope

@Zero yep

Personally after knowing Leia from kpop girl group black Swan is Brazilian Japanese it would be nice to know her thoughts and opinions about that in the future, although I think she did talk about it a little.

Also shouldn’t it be tiny Tokyo 🤔 anyways either way works but anyways great interview 😀👍❤
1
Yeah especially with Pearl Harbor

I know this was 7 months ago but the next time if u go to the U.S. again in the future I recommend going to a southern state and see if u can interview a Japanese high schooler or middle schooler on what it’s like being the only Japanese-American or only Asian in their grade Level or school please? At my old small school in a rural town in the U.S State Arkansas there were only 2 Asians in the whole school. Both Half Japanese and Half white American. The first one being Ben Ino, who’ll be graduating with my cousin next year and has a Japanese dad white mom (never met his dad but his mom is nice) . You can tell he’s mixed but he slightly looks more Japanese. Then the other one is Cody Schulist. His middle name is his his Japanese name Nabayoshi and his closest friends always called him Yoshi. You can tell he’s mixed and sometimes forget he’s half Japanese unless you see him with his younger siblings who look much more Japanese and his mom who’s from Japan and has a thick Japanese English accent. I think she’s raising all three of them alone as I have no Clue what happened to his bio father and his younger brother Has their mom’s last name.

I’m glad ur like this because I know other people who were taught to only speak English
1
@SharkWithFreakinLaserBeam what I regret is being racist as a white Latino American because I felt like I was even being racist to my self. I grew up in Arkansas USA a small town with lots of white people and i used to be racist to a black girl and a girl who was more latino than me.
1
@SharkWithFreakinLaserBeam it’s a good thing I quit being racist and looking back I don’t regret it as much anymore since I’m not as racist anymore
1
@SharkWithFreakinLaserBeam plus it wasn’t my own fault I was racist I was only racist cause of the white folks in my family Arkansas I grew up with until now (I now live in North Carolina with my dad step mom and half sister)
1
@dipdo7675 Tbh for a kpop trainee named JJ who’s a white Japanese American and was born and raised in Japan I always wonder how he felt about not being full Japanese and if he faced any racism although he was in a kid Jpop group. Oh I’m sure he has but I hope it wasn’t as bad as Seventeen’s Vernon when he was around his age and younger who’s a white Korean and because he got made fun of for not being Korean enough in Korea he dropped out of school
1
@spazzcat2612 well I’m glad ur doing that that’s something I want to do as a white Latino who’s dad was never taught Spanish because his parents had no patience
1
Yeah

That’s how my step mom’s friend from work is and her mom and sister speak mandarin and Cantonese she only sticks to English cause she thinks it’s too hard for her to understand and i understand that. Plus her husband is white American. My sister goes to a language school where she learns French and although they offer Chinese however her husband wants to send their kids to a Christian school. Me and my dad think it would be better for them to go to the language school but we’ll just have to accept her and her husband’s and decision.

Yeah as a white mixed Latino it hurts knowing I used to be racist as growing up I wasn’t able to connect with my culture enough and only knew I was half Latino a little bit and not fully 100% white although I was lucky I had Dora the explorer and Sesame Street on my side as I grew up in Arkansas. Luckily I quit being racist as I got older and slowly connecting to my culture more and more each day or every other day. If my dad had custody of me more sooner i probably wouldn’t have had that problem but it’s in the past now so oh well.

This is very cool ❤ I used to have a friend who was a 3rd gen Japanese American and One of my step mom’s co workers has a wife who’s from Japan and both of their kids are half Japanese although I think the oldest to slightly more Japanese than the younger. Anyways thank u for doing this ❤️
1
@TakahashiTakami yeah that’s how it can be for Korean Americans too that are first gen whether they’re adopted or not
