One great thing about state owned media is that even when there is some form of bias, it's often painfully obvious to recognise. Like Al Jazeera - for real one of the best and most trustworthy news outlets in regards to what happens in the Middle East. However, to my knowledge, they don't cover negative press about themselves, as in Qatar. Also, privately owned media is commonly not only heavily influenced by the political leanings of their owners, but also by the incentive of earning money. "Truth" seems to be the third highest priority, at best.
