why should the mass of the object you are trying to propel be proportional to the torque the engine can create.

@fidelcatsro6948 you are missing the point. gears exist
3
@fidelcatsro6948 not necessarily they don't have to have fixed ratios
2
piston weight is not very relevant to rpm capability.
2
because weight IS a force from the gravitational field(mg) more MASS reduces rpm capability since it has more momentum...
2
@KaitouKaiju the weight of the transmission is good and aids in traction i don't see your point
1
@vistakay weight is not related to inertia
1
@vistakay The weight is the force due to mg i understand what you are saying but the use of the word weight instead of mass is incorrect
1
F=m*a is not correct netwtons second law is the rate of change of momentum with respect to time is directly proportional to the force F∝d(mv)/dt so F is only equal ma when mass is constant
1
@vasilisgreen How am i contradicting myself
1
@vasilisgreen piston mass isn't constant if you want to know more then look up Lorentz factor however as gamma is~1 and chance in mass is negligible
1
@jaredbawden6707 if you double weight then i want to know where you live
1
@ngauruhoezodiac3143 mean speed is higher at same rpm when the distance swept is higher.
1
@vasilisgreen i am commenting on the bad word choice as mass and weight are not the same. relativistic mass is not a constant however invariant mass is. it can be ASSUMED that it is constant for the calculations.
1
@vasilisgreen stop gate keeping physics why should a average joe not be taught the correct terms
1
@vasilisgreen the reason you say you weigh x is because you have measured how much you weigh
1
@vasilisgreen are you saying the dimensions dont work
