I remember this area very good, Morris Chang too, he was semiconductor foundry guy from the early days. At Philips Taiwan, we needed to outsource the production, only keeping ASML in Holland. Morris Chang was just the guy we called, he was the right person for this as chairmen, because of his career, but not a founding father. The Taiwanese political people needed him to come over and do this in Taiwan !

SIS chipsets did a very bad job on the AMD socket chips Nvidia bought them, nForce chipsets. You mixed it op, Co CPU code, by Zero was the Pentium 60/66 bug

We all needed TSMC to do this. Philips needed to outsource ASML, and outsource all semiconductor production to Taipei. in 1989 we already outsourced it all, AMD in East Germany too them over, outsourced too now, Global partners now. Not getting new EUV fabs now.

Michael leiper, Olivetti was never included in the ARM dev team, they never wanted anything to do with it, and sold it before ARM / Acorn became as big as they are now. Apple and Philips were investing in ARM only, the rest fell...

Jim My family was Philips ASML , Cryogenic Engineered Computing to get the superconducting state, IBM only failed to produce the super computer on Josephson laws. These Cryogenic Engineering we still use, needed for quantum computing now.

Cyrix 120 is still working here too, DOS 6.22, Windows 3.11 not any issues. a Branded IBM build, IBM on the CPU too, not any Cyrix names on it, always thought it was in Germany produced, now i know NYC.
