Those Ka-52 were used as the tip of spear in one if not the most dearing airborne assault ever. In a urban scenario it woudl be impossible to not have some losses as in any window there could be a stinger.

It is called autorotate. it is specially easier in the KA-52 since the coutner rotating propellers momentum means it will not start to spin (as others woudl due to sudden stop of power from the e tail rotor). A helicopter can autorotate with soem level of control as long as it shydraulics are working. It will not get you ver far but it can avoid a fireball .

@ark-mark1 The KA-52 were being used as deep scout and HUNTING AAA units. They were doign the MOST dangerous mission of a war in those first 2 days.

@ark-mark1 You are thinking on terms of fighting an enemy open column. There were no such targets. These Ka were used to scout and escort Hip-8 right into urban centers. They were doing a very very dangerous mission. All it took was a stinger armed soldier in the window of a small house and things go south for them
