@georgeb811 This does not change the fact that statistically there were in the 30's more people with engineer /factory skills in city than in the coutnryside. Today's profile is completely different, but back then most people in city worked in factories and every factory trained their people to handle fires.

In cities you will find a more spread knowledge levle from completely unable to use a screwdriver... to a guy that can very well design that machine completely from scratch. On the farm everything tends to be compressed in the middle where everyone knows a bit, but also no one knows everything.

@Mr.Scootini It becomes a matter of specialization. I fix my own computer, most people do not. I paint my own family portraits, almost no one does that:P But no one can be able to do everything.
