Now you are really lost. USA is very very resource capable economy. Also Money still is one of if not the most important thing in a war like that where a large part of the fihgting forces are paid mercenaries (on BOTH sides)

@thf1933 Yes and no.... USA has the resources to EASILY cover its own demands. It consumes from abroad because it is cheaper. That is very different from a small country that simply do not have the resources. USA could, if prices were high enough to be worth, increase dramatically its Steel production, Food production and Oil production. Electronics is a more complex area where there is a world cross dependency. Some things are basically made only in USA, others in Taiwan, others in China, etc... but no country can afford to try to blockade those.

@SHANindahouse That is NOT how GDP works. GDP is not your potential for production, GDP is the extrapolated economy value from the Govenrment internal expending, Families consumption and Industrial Re investment into production/ innovation. That is completely unrelated to having or not having the mineral and agricultural resources. You can have a trillion barrels of oil under your ground, but if you do nto extract them they do not COUNT towards GDP. Also no USA does not consume 40% of world production. Value and resources are different thing. USA consumes a lot of highly expensive things bought from Europe for example, but these are NOT resources needed for the base economy to work. China uses far more resources than USA nowadays, it ocnsumes more steel, (in fact more of almost every single metal, more food and more clothing. I-phones are NOT economical resources, they are premium items at end of production chains.
