To be honest they are takign a significant toll of losses due to Ukranian artillery. Seems Ukranian artillery is by far their best asset( and better used)

The part that I do not get is, addiivka is not very important strategically, why to try to hold inside a pocket like that for a location that has no logistical crux point? Bahkmut was way more important, but this one is weird as hell. They should have fall back as soon as the Russian pushes started. They were supposed to be focusing in the south, so why to risk so many troops in Avdiivka?

@Piradoc1600 A gateway to attack a region way harder to advance than the one they are already failing to advance into is not exaclty short term priority .. at least in a sane mind.

@joebenson528 Naa 1k is too low.. any conflict where other side has active and working artillery will have far more than 1K losses in 1 year. What you describe is as nonsense as Western media propaganda.

@SerbanOprescu I am just trying to be impartial . When one side does something in a competent form there is no reason to pretend they did not. Seems on this ocasion the Russian coutner artillery fire was below their usual efficiency, althought here are no reliable information on why (maybe they are beign moved to some other operation?)
