Well to be honest, china built one would not pass the legal safety requirements, but 12 years seems an absurdly long time. I would expect 1 or 2 years at most.

@AlejandroPikoulasPlata I have a family member that worked for insurance firms in China.. they have data. Structural degradation and accidents are way higher than in western (developed) world. They seems to have a common practice of cutting corners. I also happen to live in a City where a Bridge was beign rebuilt by a Chinese company.. took them 11 years and never got ready. The city dispensed them and hired an american company, and it was ready in a bit over 1 year.

@ctrlaltdebug That is more related to the time since they were last worked on than tot he quality of the work.

@btrue2day And lets see how their bridges are in 40 years. I know what their companies did here.. horrible projects that survived a fraction of the expected time. Yes they might change.. or might have changes.. but needs time to PROVE it.
