It is a very high probability that they want to inflict a bloody retreat. It is cheaper for the Russians than a full encirclement like in Mariopol.

You cannot encircle when you are being pushed in all sub fronts. Even if one segment counter attack that never can result in an encirclements. You need at least 2 very strong counter attacks and this seems very unlikely right now. What coudl happen is a counter attack breaking an attempt to close the encirclement.

@dad378 But that cannot change more than a small segment of the front. Also Russians also have ATGM missiles as the Ukranians had (that destroyed so many tanks). 61 tanks is nto even CLOSE to beign enough to PUSH anywhere, at most help in defense. They need hundreds of tanks

@dad378 Because that is how battlefield work. You cannot pushy a front with 1 units every 5 km. If you put all tanks together you get a pinpoint advancement and suddenly your supplies are cut and your tanks are dead in water. If you spread them enough to have a safe front logistic wise you have very little pressure (remember russians do have a Crapton of any tank weapons, so much that htey already killed HUNDREDS of Ukranian and Polish tanks). The west tanks will only allow for an advance when they can muster a few hundred, 200 at bare MINIMUM.
