@Hermeshoes It is in fact way older than that, it was just more undercover before that point and the creation of mass communication made it far far more effective.

That is NOT preparation for war for god's sake. Preparation for war are SECRET. A war between two powers do NOT demand population support or preparation, not at the cost of losing the intelligence advantage. A country that is preparing for war is SILENT, always. Those actions are simply self justification and a classical populist form of turning people's attention from real problems into a foreign bogeyman. Several countries do that, although usually in more subtle ways.

@MsHojat Yet USA only arose to first place when it let it go of that model (also the fact that Germany kind of put fire in everyone's else neighborhood helped USA to rise)
