@epicfailguy1001 That is not soft power because you do not change the world impression and view about your country neither the money go to your country. Holywood is soft power because it changed most of the world view of what is acceptable, right , wrong, heroic of bad with their stories. Anime the same. Hamburguers are not soft power. MacDonalds is although because it is not only food , it is a brand and a concept of life style that influences the world (also the money goes to USA).

@robbiegrant1449 Soft power must be power. Power must have capability of directing. A style of food is out of control. The proof? just check how hot dogs are made in Brazil.. it has chips, tomatoes, lettuce, smashed potatoes, pickles, onions... the hot dog is absorbed and it is unable to keep control or even influence anyone. McDonalds do keep control and they do influence people and they can if they want even change the political and cultural view that their clients have of the world.

Peopel are missing that soft power is not a terminology invented by random internet people, it has a explicit meaning and itis NOT what people here are taking for.
