If you have a condition where a fuse blows right away, put a lightbulb in place of the fuse. This will give you time to find the short.

Get a call about my car's warranty expiring! I ask them which car. My '99 Camry 430,000+ miles? Accord 280,000+ miles? '00 Grand Cherokee 260,00+ miles? They end up hanging up!!

I like this thought process!! You don't know what you've got until it rears its ugly head from underneath something worse!!

If they have an oil drinking problem, the oil rings are most likely stuck to the pistons. I saved two Subarus from drinking oil.

Had the alternator fail on our vehicle 4:30 Friday evening. First thought was to get off of the road. Second was to try to find a shop to change it. All shops were closed. I ended up changing it in Fleet Farm's parking lot at 21°F! ~3 hours from seeing the light come on to being back on the road. Had to buy tools. Did you know they sell combination wrenches without a 10mm??!

Great video! Are you familiar with Paul Danner's (aka Scanner Danner) book? If not, a brief introduction. He's a veteran automotive tech and a vocational automotive instructor. He couldn't find a text that he liked for his classroom, so he wrote his own. Many and most times he bypasses typical flowcharts saving a lot of time and money making the correct decision on what's wrong with the vehicle. His motto is "Don't be a parts changer!" He has gone as far as listing shops that use his book on the Internet. He has a map with links. I'd like to see more shops listed on his site so I can recommend a shop to someone knowing that they won't be involved in the expensive parts changing game and get their vehicles repaired honestly!

Penatrating oil only gets into the threads only once the nut starts turning. Before that, it's just dripping away!

I'd like to see you start doing oil analysis. Maybe your own. Take a vehicle that's only used in town never exceeded 45 MPH. Does it really need every 6 month change? Take someone's car that mainly sees highway miles. What's the condition of the oil at 3000, 5000, 7000? I know this would be something to undertake! I think it would be worth it. Oil analyst tells the whole story. No guessing.

Rust belt mechanics such as SMA use the blue tipped wrench on many repairs!
