My biggest concern, will it smack into us, seems to have been answered. As for it being like Hale-Bopp, wouldn't that be something. Now THAT was a comet.

Well that's a bummer. That would have been something cool to look at.

Spending a bunch of time looking at tidally locked planets orbiting a tiny cool star. Okay, but what are they hoping to accomplish? What kind of life would exist on such a planet, a bit of bacteria? Sorry, discovering life at that level just doesn't move the needle for me and if they found it I wouldn't be jumping up and down. Get a hold of someone I can have a conversation with and I'll be all on board. Until then, live long and prosper. 🖖

Wait a minute I remember that 7.28 minute eclipse. It was actually 8.5 minutes and it happened in 744 BC, not 743. I think I still have a commemorative Mayan coin with that date on it if anyone doubts my veracity. Kidding aside, I won't see the eclipse but a comet would be cool. It doesn't sound like Hale-Bopp but it might be worth a peek.

Hale Bopp was the King Kong of comets, coming in at 18 miles across. I remember looking at it with my step-daughter using the telescope we bought her for Christmas the year before. I told her you will likely never see anything like this again so take it in and appreciate it. I was in Hawaii when Haley's Comet came by and I've got to say it was a wimp compared to Hale Bopp. That truly was a sight to behold.

So is this thing gonna hit us or not? I feel like Steve Buscemi in Armageddon: "Are we staying or are we going? I had a great view of the end of the Earth out there." Make up your mind so I know whether to invest or spend like it's 1929.

Like every piece of real-estate, location, location, location. As far as cosmic turf is concerned, it's good to live in the boonies.

Titan may be the Alamo for humanity in this solar system. At some point the Sun, like any star, will start to die. When it reaches the Red Giant phase, Titan may become habitable. I know, it's a pretty far fetched theory, but it is a lot like the early Earth and by the time the Sun turns this place into a briquette it might be inside the new habitable zone. People would have to be pre-conditioned to adapt to the new atmospheric conditions and the whole magnetic field thing would have to be worked out but in a billion years or so that sort of technology may be old-hat. Or we might blow ourselves to kingdom come long before we ever get close to being close to figuring that stuff out. Still, it's a thought and isn't that what theorizing is all about? 🤔
