  1. The man posited that the nuttiness seems to be happening more in the English speaking countries of the west. That is certainly true. If you look at it from a spiritual perspective it's spelled out in Romans 1, being given over to a depraved mind. From a secular vantage point, I think it comes down to people no longer taking their role as citizen's seriously. In the past, there were threats that were perceived as being existential in nature. Since the 60s, we have drifted further left, including the rise of the libertarian movement on the right side of the spectrum. Social issues weren't seen as existential in nature, it was all live and let live. There is a price to be paid for that and this generation is picking up the tab. Crazy ideas that used to percolate in the fringes of academia were allowed to escape, like a virus. People gave everything over to the experts and politicians. How's that working out? Just askin.,
