I spent most of my adult life in the spiritual but not religious camp. Then I realized that was a position for people trying to hedge their bets. It's like being a little bit pregnant. There is a line from a movie where the character asks: "If you were accused of being a Christian would there be enough evidence to convict you?" I thought about that and had to admit the evidence in my case would be pretty thin. I'm trying to fix that. That is step one because I can't fix anything if my personal relationship with God is lukewarm at best. I enjoy Mass a great deal because it gets me closer to that desired end-state. It's not some life altering experience every time out and that's okay. For me, there are no bad moments in God's house and at His banquet table. He sent everyone an invite before we even came into being. I wish more people would take Him up on it. I feel for those who deny themselves God's grace.
