  1. My personal favorite is the multi-verse. People wedded to scientism will jump through just as many hoops and twist themselves around just as much pretzel logic as the hardcore apologist who needs the world to be 6,000 years old and for people to have walked with dinosaurs like Fred Flintstone. When you adopt a hardened position and something comes along to seriously challenge your belief system the natural inclination is to resist and create a new paradigm if you have to, but never surrender. I'm a person of faith and I get called superstitious yet these same jokers want me to believe in hyper-inflation, multi-verses, or whatever the theory de-jure is to explain a random universe that requires such a precise level of fine-tuning and synchronicity among a wide variety of cosmologic constants it stretches the boundaries of mathematics to the breaking point. Oh yeah, and that elegant universe they spend all their life studying serves no purpose because it is just a random collection of atoms and cosmic debris that every now and again bump into one another. There's no point, it just is. But we're the kooks.
