I picked up a good saying from Steve Deace. When he feels like bitching about his job he reminds himself that it beats going to down a mine shaft with a flashlight. Not to disparage people who do that for a living but he has a point. I remember watching this show years ago where these guys went on a quest to find the lousiest job in the world. The winner was working in a sulfur pit. They spoke with this guy some place in the Far East who worked in one and he looked to be in his 70s. He was 35. They said the life expectancy for people working there was somewhere around 42. No matter how bad you have it there is always someone who has it a bit worse. I wonder what kind of complaints the slave laborers in the Soviet gulags would have posted on Twitter if it was around in the 30s. Based on the level of toughness and patriotic fervor of the American urbanite who isn't a criminal I give the Chinese about four days to capture and subdue the main cities. The criminal element won't be a problem since the Chinese will put them in charge of security at the street level. It'll get a bit trickier for them when they get to flyover country and have to deal with those deplorables clinging to their Bibles and their guns. Oh, and if you think your Chinese overlords will be okay with you bitching about the way they treat you think again. And you will damn sure make whatever kind of coffee they want, you bet yer ass on that. As for me, this is just another reason for me to not go to Starbucks.
