Okay Matt, I'm one of those luddites you have such disdain for. I don't know how to work the self-checkout technology because I've never used it. I don't use it for the simplest of reasons, I don't like it. I dunno, maybe you are as grumpy and anti-social as you make yourself out to be, but I have no problem dealing with most cashiers or people in line. I actually find it enjoyable at times. Self-checkout was a money grab. I get it, if I ran a business I'd want a cheaper way to do business too. I will say this, the self-checkout lines at the Publix I shop at are barely used. Of course, I'm one of those old farts living in Florida and as I touched on earlier, a lot of us older people don't know how to work it and don't care to learn. I'm old enough to remember when scanning wasn't a thing and the cashiers had to punch keys. I did that at a sandwich shop on my first job and I had to actually make change. Oh how times have changed.
