  1. I saw this one at the theater and I thought it was okay. It reminded a bit of Saving Private Ryan with less subplots. In my opinion, When Trumpets Fade does a better job of showing individual struggles while trying to complete a seemingly impossible mission but that's just me. But I agree it was good to see a contemporary film maker examine WWI. It was the seminal event of the 20th Century, setting the stage for Communism, Anti-Colonial Movements, and WWII. I recommend Margaret McMillin's Paris 1919 and if you like that read her other book on the subject, The War to End all Peace. She is the preeminent author on WWI in my humble opinion.
