I didn't watch Rings of Power because why would I. I saw Father Stu, Elvis, and Top Gun Maverick at the theater. The kid they got to play Elvis had the look but the script was crap and Tom Hanks was a disaster as Col. Tom Parker. His attempt at a different accent was an embarrassment. Truth be told, Tom is starting to lose it and should probably start thinking about directing or producing because he's not aging gracefully. Father Stu was a great movie and if it didn't break you at the end then I guess no movie can. Top Gun Maverick was one of those rare instances where the sequel outdid the original. That was a master class on how to properly portray a character who has matured over the years. On the small screen, I liked The Terminal List. The beginning lags a bit but when the killing starts it's hell-on-wheels. I still haven't seen the updated version of All Quiet on the Western Front. Maybe I'll give that one a go. I prefer the 70s TV version with Richard Thomas and Ernest Borgnine over the 1930s adaptation so it will be interesting to see how this latest version stacks up. Anyway, Happy New Year Drinker. I'll go away now.
