The days of a squishy republican winning the nomination are over. Some might be jockeying for a VP slot, others for a slot on Fox News, but no way Nikki Haley or Pompeo have a legitimate shot. Pence's only purpose would be to act as Trumps punching bag. The field will most likely be large because these vanity runs have become all the rage. But funding dries up after too many poor showings and this time around I think it will dry up faster than it did in 2016. After South Carolina it will either be Trump v DeSantis or Trump v one, two squishy republicans at most if Governor DeSantis decides not to run, which I think would be a mistake.

@ChristInOrChaos Thanks. It's not hard to figure out what the horses are gonna do when you've seen enough of these rodeos. Politics is politics, whether it's 1968 or 2024. But the talking heads are in with the in crowd and will toe the party line so long as it pays.
