  1. "If we go back to those fundamental values of who we really are this is how we can come together." Here's the flaw with your argument Tulsi, the people at the top of your political party don't possess those fundamental values. In fact, for the loudest portion of your base, those values are antithetical to what they believe. Some are nihilists masquerading as anarchists, others are Marxists masquerading as liberals but they all share the common belief that the existing meritocracy based on capitalistic principles and Judeo-Christian values must be destroyed to make way for the Socialist utopia where they become part of what Marx referred to as The Dictatorship of the Proletariat. It's like the problem with the Palestinians and the Israelis. The Palestinians have had many opportunities to create a state and put an end to the violence but they will never agree because that is not their stated objective. The destruction of Israel is. Just like the destruction of our system of self-government is their ultimate objective. They have no interest in finding common ground because in their minds we share no common ground. The politics of the left has always been ideologically driven and politics for ideological movements has always been a zero sum game. There are winners and losers, that's it. And winners get to dictate the peace. That is the story of every left-wing movement from the Bolsheviks through the Castro's. I wish there was a way to reason with the other side but how do you reason with someone who wants to end you?
