Great points about choice. I used to teach leadership and one of the phrases I would keep on my board was "Life is 10% about what happens to you and 90% about how you respond it." It's easy to slide into feeling sorry for yourself though and we all do it from time to time. Another point I used to make when students would complain about how horrible their boss was or how they had to stay on people to get things done was that during that past hour, while they were complaining about how jacked up their workplace was, some parent somewhere learned their child has cancer. I did it to remind them that we often mistake annoyances for problems. Like the old saying goes, no matter how bad you have it, you can always find someone who has it a bit worse.
