Future revolutionaries like Lenin took a lot away from the French Revolution, including using state-sponsored terror as a method for controlling the uppity proletariat who aren't down with the program. Thank you for delving into this. I hope future installments address Rousseau and his contribution as far as the Social Compact goes. Once you get head around all of that you get a better idea of where the crazy notions of the left come from and why they behave the way they do.
