Brandon. Your premise is valid, but the larger question is; how can one be reasonable with someone who is not? As long as one side is starting from an emotional rather than a logical position it can be difficult to have the type of conversation we need to have. I wish it wasn't so, but unfortunately it is and until we learn to set aside emotion and deal with the world as it is the type of dialogue you are urging isn't going to occur.
