  1. I enjoy some of Tik's work. He does his homework and brings receipts. That said, he sometimes gets it wrong. This one, well, the reasoning is so convoluted and all over the place it's hard to point to any individual part as the point where the argument falls apart. He seems to gloss over some little event known as WWI. The empire was falling apart before they decided to pick that fight however. Their decision to expand in order to survive was the final nail in the Hapsburg coffin. Trying to rule a bunch of people who didn't have anything in common and didn't have any allegiance to the empire was a losing proposition. The bloated administrative state charged with overseeing this multi-cultural hodgepodge certainly didn't help end the decline which had been a slow ongoing process for a long time. Neither did the group of out of touch autocratic the old men at the top of the food chain. They governed like it was 1814, not 1914. So yeah, forcing a brand of autocratic nationalism on a bunch of people who have nothing in common is a recipe for disaster, no matter how many revisionist historians argue otherwise. It's a fact that dates back to the Roman Empire and as John Adams said: "Facts are stubborn things." I turned this one off at the 11:00 minute mark because the pretzel logic was just too hard to follow. Like I say, not one of the man's better videos. You don't have to dispute every conventional narrative Tik. Sometimes the prevailing argument is actually correct.
