Hearing this made me think of that scene from the Big Lebowski where the Dude tells Walter he's being threatened by German nihilists: "They were nihilists? F*ck me. I mean, say what you want about the tenants of national socialism dude, at least it's an ethos." I think that gets lost in a lot of the discussions surrounding that gangster regime. Their evil was so off the charts that people tend to overlook the ideology behind it, as whacked as it may be. In order to be a true believer you have to have something to believe in. That may sound like an oversimplification but look around at these kids showing up for these social-media ordered riots. Sure, there is a cause de-jure, but a fair amount of them would show up because it's Tuesday. They are just raging against the machine. They feel like they have no stake in a world that has abandoned them so they want to see it torn down. And they just like breaking things and blowing sh*t up, like the trashman character out of The Stand. Our fallen nature in its rawest form.
