People who clamor for state run health care have never lived through it or if they have it's all they have known.

My uncle had to wait two years to get a hip replacement. They jacked it up and then he had to wait another year and a half for them to correct it. Yeah, it's a great system. And spare me, I lived there for three years and couldn't find a doctor because none of them were taking new patients. I had a surgery done on my wrist and they botched that. When I was waiting to be wheeled in I was rolled into a hallway with paint peeling from the wall and water leaking from the pipes along with a dozen or so other people and waited with them for close to three hours. Maybe a nurse came through to check in on us but I don't recall. My Dad needed a surgical procedure to save his life and while it was available in a neighboring province it was considered experimental in his and they wouldn't let him go to the neighboring province to have the procedure done because he wasn't in their system. By the time he got down to the States his condition was such that nothing could be done to help him. I spoke with a neighbor of his after he passed away who worked for the provincial health department and he told me the entire system was on life support and that before too long people would be offered state sponsored suicide for conditions that could be remedied without much cost. Ringing any bells yet? Yeah, it's a great system.

@kale2149 Are you really going to use that as a strawman? I'd like to compare the percentages of Americans going to Cuba for health care with the number of Canadians heading south for theirs. And I live in Florida so I see a boat load of it, or I did until COVID made it too pricey for them to come down. A lot of em skipped out on their bills as well, saying; "I don't pay for this back home why should I pay for it here?" And no, I'm not making that up. The snowbird across the street from me ran up over $160,00 in medical bills before he stopped coming down. He finally kicked the can and we got to eat that bill. It's why most doctors demand copayments up front down here. So no, the Cuba argument doesn't hold much water.

@kale2149 It confirms what I said earlier, they have been lulled by the nanny state and it's what they know. They are told how well the system works day after day by state run media and they see government as a force for good in their lives. I know it, I saw it, lived through it. Have you lived there? If you have, how was it? How'd state run health care work for you? In practice, not theory, not some data from some poll, how did it work for you on a personal level? You seem to be a true believer so it's a fair question. Are your opinions based on what others have told you or on your own experience dealing with the system and the ridiculously high, regressive taxes such as the GST that were put in place to prop it up? If you've been there, I'll lend a bit more gravitas to your take on it. I say it sucks because I dealt with it, in real life, but that's me.
