@kimobrien. Based on the hammer and sickle I'm going to assume you believe in socialism, most likely soviet-style socialism. So, under socialism the state controls the means of production and according to Marx wealth is distributed: "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs." Can you point to an instance where socialism has worked at a macro-level? I'm not talking about nanny states like Canada and the UK that practice capitalism then take what people have earned and give large chunks of it to people who have not, I'm talking about actual socialism as laid out by Marx. Also, were you alive when the USSR and it's Soviet Bloc states imposed centrally planned economies on their subjects? When the authoritarian governments they produced restricted speech, travel, worship, and movement? Or did you learn what you know about capitalism and socialism at a university? Just curious. A lot of young people have no clue how corrosive and evil the soviet system was and simply take the word of people who weren't forced to live under such a system that capitalism is evil and socialism is inherently good. It's a lie of course, but it's what gets pumped into their brains and since they have no actual memory they simply take these professors who have never actually produced anything at their word.
