  1. That bit about the online comments being hateful is true. I try to remain civil but I have said some things on this little screen I wouldn't have said to anyone in a face-to-face situation. When I do engage with someone it's to find out why they said what they said but most times my inquiries are met with silence. Am I interacting with a bot? Who knows. That's why I don't engage with too many people, especially if they say something completely illogical. As for news, I stay informed in a general sense because I do want to know what is going on, but I skim past the parts where the obligatory slam is inserted. Mostly I tend to go along with Paul Simon who once wrote: "I get the news I need from the weather report." Since I live in Florida that is more true than for someone like Simon who lives in New York. I need to know when a hurricane is barreling down my ass. Outside of that, if it's political theater or agitprop (pardon the redundancy) I stay away. It drives some crazy when I tell them I just can't care about something they find terribly important because for a long time I did find those things terribly important and it ground me down almost to a nub. So go ahead gang, enjoy the show if you like. I might catch the reruns if I'm in the mood, but that is a rare day indeed.
