  1. Self-actualization is all fine and well provided you have a moral compass. Motives matter. I read somewhere that reaching a state of true self-actualization often leads to the creation of the perfect asshole. I chuckled at first since Maslow was part of the curriculum I taught at the time but the more I considered it and the more I observed human nature I started to see what the person who said it was driving at. The question that should be foremost in your mind is, to what end? Why do I want something and what will I do with it when I get it? Otherwise you can end up like a dog chasing its tail. Sometimes, you get where you wanted to go and you end up looking around and asking, is this all there is? Just something to consider.
