Back in the olden days when I was an educator I used to break it down for my students in a straight forward way. I explained to them: "Ignorance is a state of mind, stupid is a state of being. A proper dose of education can help a person overcome the former provided they are willing to be an active participant in the process. However, since the latter is a state of being, all the education in the world won't help because the person's nature prevents him from being an active participant." If I saw any blank stares I fell back on the old line: "Life's tough. It's tougher when you're stupid and since ya can't fix stupid get used to a tough life."

I sometimes joke: "Rip Van Winkle fell asleep and woke up 20 years later in a world that was foreign to him. I took an hour nap and woke up in a Far Side cartoon." That said, a few years back I labeled the time we live in as The Age of Stupid. At first I thought bruce jenner was just having a bit of fun. 10 years later parents are castrating their sons and chest binding their daughters. A society that promotes and/or accepts transgenderism as a real thing and claims a two-year old is capable of deciding which gender they are is not only sick in the mind, it is sick in the soul. A society that thinks it can print and spend trillions of dollars (trillions, with a T) and not feel the effects at all is...well, stupid. A society that not only accepts cognitive dissonance but forces it on the populace is wicked. In any event, a society that acts the way this one has for the past 17 years is destined for the ash-heap of history. “You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We’ll preserve for our children this, the last best hope for man on Earth, or we will sentence them to take the last step into a thousand years of darkness.” ― Ronald Reagan: A Time for Choosing It's here and it's real. Sometimes ya have to choose sides. Welcome to world of the way things are kids.
