  2. Interesting discussion. That analogy using the elks rack reminded me of this old Miller Lite commercial where a guy goes to a bowling alley and asks for size 10 shoes but is told the only pair left is size 13. He goes ahead a rents those even though he doesn't want to then he sits down and spots some women sitting near him. He smiles at them and raises his beer but they laugh at the guy in that unique way only women can, that get lost loser sort of condensation. The guy dips his shoulders, sighs in resignation knowing everyone from the shoe guy to these women have zero respect for him, then he puts his feet with those big old size 13 shoes up and the women all do a double take, changing their expression as a horse neighing sound effect is played. The point is clear and it was quite edgy for a commercial but it spoke to a certain amount of truth when it comes to people and their superficial shallow desire for gratification. But it also spoke to a deeper is issue, respect. I haven't learned as much as I would have liked these past several decades but if a young man asked my advice on the matter of getting by in the world and selecting a good and decent woman to take the journey with I would tell him to adhere to certain to precepts, deal-breakers if you will. First, never let anyone else define who you are. There are enough honest and decent people out there but a whole bunch of them will project all kinds of negative traits on to you and those are the ones that seem to take root. I'm not saying you shouldn't accept valid criticism, just don't let someone apply the loser tab to you. Two, don't hang around with anyone who disrespects you, especially women. She may be a knock out who is great in the sack but if she doesn't respect you she will leave or step out. And as they point out here, if she has a history of disrespecting men or has had multiple relationships understand she will treat you the same way. Walk away from women like that. Realize you can't fix or change anyone except yourself. If you act like a victim people will treat you like one and later on down the road all you get for the effort is a bunch of resentments that flood in like a tsunami. Parents can play all sorts of mind-games on their kids, but how long someone carries that baggage around is up to them.

  4. 33 years of sobriety after being a drunk for most of my formative years and I wouldn't go back even if someone could convince me I'm not an alcoholic. When I was in rehab a big part of the focus was getting to the root of what you were self-medicating for, what problem you were trying to drink away. To be honest, I had a ton of problems but dealing with pain wasn't my motivation. I just liked getting drunk. Until I didn't, but it took a lot of physical pain from a hospital bed to reach that point. That fella Dr. Peterson is speaking with got the key to living sober when he said he turned it over to God. I tried AA for about nine months and after spending enough time with that bunch I knew it wasn't right for me. I'd be drunk again if I hung out with them much longer. I spoke with a group going through rehab a few years later and told them the same thing, that if you really are addicted to the stuff you need to get God involved. I was asked not to come back because I didn't support 12-step programs. Too much of a cult for me, but that's just my take. Tommy Lee Jones gave the best explanation of how most drunks feel in a movie where his character gets asked "I understand you used to have a problem with your drinking." His response was priceless: "Hell no I liked my drinking just fine, it was other people who had the problem with it." On that note I'll stop. Stay smart kids and as Nancy used to put it, just say no. Oh yeah, and do like Dr. Peterson says and don't be stupid. To borrow from John Wayne: "Life's tough, it's tougher when you're stupid."

  7. I enjoy listening to Jordan Peterson because he's a smart guy and he provides solid advice to live your life by. He also appeals to young people which is desperately needed during these times where up is down and down is sideways. But in my opinion, when he gets into spiritual matters, he is unable to close the loop (for lack of a better term) because he seems to refer more to God as a construct than a living being, a view akin to the absent clockmaker some have accused Him of being. Jordan constantly refers to Nietzsche and Jung when he makes his arguments for God instead of scripture. I don't know if it's because he doesn't feel well versed enough in the Bible beyond Genesis to incorporate it into his commentary (that would be a valid reason) but sorry, Nietzsche and Jung are not the sources someone should turn to to discover the active role God plays in our lives. But who knows. Maybe Jordan just doesn't honestly see God in an active capacity in his heart. Perhaps his past training and education in psychology are too deeply ingrained for him to allow it. I have heard him refer to God as a lawgiver, the source for morality, but if that's all there is to it we are all damned because no one is capable of living a sin-free life, no matter how clearly defined the rules may be. This is because we have a fallen nature. Jordan knows that because I've heard him say as much when he points out the flaws within Marxist philosophy. There was only one truly innocent man in all of creation, one man capable of meeting Gods standards and he took on our sins so we can be reconciled with the Father. That is the essence of Christianity anyway. I know other faiths see things differently but none of their messages of salvation come from secular sources either. All of them are based on scripture of one form or another. Like I say, I like listening to Jordan and appreciate the work he does, but I would not recommend him when it comes to matters of faith and God's role in the world. But that's me.

  10. I like listening to Jordan Peterson from time-to-time but he has this habit of going off on a stream of consciousness and this causes him to stray from answering the question. This is one of those times. There are plenty of problems with the conservative movement, the most pressing being; what are we trying to conserve? Does anyone want to conserve the system as it is today? There was a time when the system was under threat but those days are past. The system has been taken over by a minority with people strategically placed to control messaging and the regulation of society at the street level. I have no desire to conserve any of that. The roles have been flipped. The left wants to maintain the status quo and the best way to do that is to accumulate more power. They have become "the man" for all practical purposes. So where does that leave the conservative movement? It's dead. The thought leaders are more charlatan's than anything else. Selling books, getting clicks, and owning the libs to increase traffic to their site is all the rage these days. At the legislative level, conservative leaders make a lot of noise but produce zero results. Congressional hearings and investigations don't mean a damn thing if nobody is truly held accountable. The Tea Party candidates put the dagger in the movement with all their promises of repealing obama care and 1000 other things they said they would do. Then, when they were in a position to do what they promised...nothing. That showed the conservative voters where they stood and cynicism took hold quickly. It's all tribalism now. Name calling from the right in response to storm troopers on the left. Squishy republicans are afraid to wield power and they hate leading anyway. The left is emboldened because they have no real opposition. They put drag queens in your kids schools and raid homes of Christians for protesting at abortion clinics while those who throw bombs at churches roam free. antifa and blm thugs burn cities with impunity. Why do conservatives lose? Because the movement is dead. Based on what's happened the past few years, I wonder if the it ever really existed, at least after George the first took the White House. Want some free advice? Trust in God. Not the God of Jung or Nietzsche, the actual Lord of Creation. Do with it what you will.

  11. Sorry to blow a hole in your theory Bob but the democrats have never had an aversion to taking money from "dirty" sources. They were just better at hiding it and they had the media running interference, building the narrative they wanted to put out there. Tell me the Clintons only took cash from trial lawyers and unions and I'll tell you stories about unicorns and Big Foot. As for the path your party finds itself on, your worthless POS uncle Ted helped get them started down that rathole. Guys like Al Gore saw the climate nonsense as a way to make a buck and the heads of these corporations all came from lefty universities so you sort of had a built-in home-field advantage. The democrat faithful march in lockstep. If COVID didn't work to their political advantage they would have been leading the charge against big pharma. It's all cynical BS being shoved down our throats by the unibrow party that engages in Three Stooges level pie fights for the cameras then get together and cut backroom deals that benefit all of them. And just like in the movie Goodfellas, when they can't write another check or get another line of credit, they'll put a match to the place, lighting it up like Ray Liotta and Joe Pesci lit up the Bamboo Lounge. George Orwell described what we are experiencing quite accurately: “That evening loud laughter and bursts of singing came from the farmhouse. And suddenly, at the sound of the mingled voices, the animals were stricken with curiosity. What could be happening in there, now that for the first time animals and human beings were meeting on terms of equality? With one accord they began to creep as quietly as possible into the farmhouse garden.” “At the gate they paused, half frightened to go on but Clover led the way in. They tiptoed up to the house, and such animals as were tall enough peered in at the dining-room window. There, round the long table, sat half a dozen farmers and half a dozen of the more eminent pigs…The pigs appeared completely at ease in their chairs The company had been enjoying a game of cards but had broken off for the moment, evidently in order to drink a toast. A large jug was circulating, and the mugs were being refilled with beer. No one noticed the wondering faces of the animals that gazed in at the window. “Gentlemen," concluded Napoleon, "I will give you the same toast as before, but in a different form…here is my toast: To the prosperity of The Manor Farm! The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.” ― George Orwell: Final Chapter of Animal Farm And the beat goes on...for now anyway.

  12. There is a line from the movie Fallen where John Goodman tells Denzel Washington: "Hobbs, I'm following ya but your losing me at the same time." I get it, you like to go off on these stream of consciousness rants where you juggle numerous concepts and then attempt to connect the dots but as to the question, do you believe in God, well, you left that unanswered. It sounds like you still see God as a construct. On the one hand you dismiss the concept of intrinsic value and a Divine spark, but then you go on to say we need to believe it is real in order to reach some sort of balance? And that bit at the end? That rambling about how you admire religious teaching because somehow it lines up with psychoanalytical reasoning and supports the idea that we are not unitary spirts but instead we are a loose unity of of a multiplicity of spirits? Okay, maybe you never did directly answer the question of whether or not you believe in God, but that interpretation of Biblical messaging indicates a level of confusion, at least about Judeo/Christian teaching. Maybe it's just that you are incapable of cutting the cord, that all those years of being an agnostic psychologist makes you incapable of entering into a relationship with God. I'm not talking about believing in Him, even the demons do that, I'm talking about a personal relationship, genuine faith. I know, you have made a lot of videos about the wisdom contained in the Bible, but even Dawkins admits the values put forward by that book are good for society. This is why I'm concerned that a lot of young people turn to people like you for spiritual guidance. I hope one day you can surrender to Christ. But I wish that for everyone. Good luck Dr. Peterson.

  16. Peterson hits on a key component of Hitler, Hitler the opportunist. Hitler always had visions of grandeur for himself. When he was living in hostels or on the street, he ran with Jews and he had no real issue with them. A Jewish doctor saved his mother at first and he was so grateful he wrote him a long letter praising him. The officer who put Hitler in for his Iron Cross, the award he said he was always most proud of, was Jewish. But Hitler was also aware early on of the deep antisemitism that ran in the German psyche. He picked up on it in the cafe's and beer halls in Austria prior to the war and after the war he heard it in Germany. Was he an anti-Semite at heart? Absolutely. You can't call for the evil he did without believing it. But as Jordan points out, he also went with the crowd on it as far as the intensity of his attacks were concerned. He was willing to go places no one else would and he surrounded himself with likeminded evil men like Himmler who were more than willing to kill for the sake of killing. There was a sense of destiny in the German national consciousness that needed to be purged. The mistake the allies made in 1918 was not occupying the country and convincing the population they had been defeated. Someone was going to pay for the stab in the back as they put it, and the built-in hatred of the Jews at the cultural/street level provided the excuse to scapegoat the Jews. Would the Holocaust have happened without Hitler? Maybe. But modern-day idiots who compare Trump, Bush, or anyone they disagree with to Hitler are just as bad as those Germans who went along with the Nazi's. They demonize those they have political and social disagreements on at such a visceral level that they dehumanize them. Isn't that what the Nazi's were all about? Those who live in glass houses. But perhaps I give these people more credit than they deserve. Perhaps they are just so ignorant that they are easily swayed by some blogger who calls everyone who's not a progressive a fascist. Still, when mainstream networks refer to white Christian nationalists, a term that is contradictory and intended to paint political opponents as enemies, not fellow countrymen, we should pay attention because if history teaches us one thing, it teaches us that evil people say what they mean and do what they say. It starts with name calling. Where it ends...Never again.

  20. Hitler tapped into the belief in the mythological Germany, the one that was able to defeat enemies no one else could going back to the height of the Roman Empire. Like every good myth, it was a mixture of truth and lies but most importantly it was this sense of destiny that had been active in the culture for more than a century. I don't agree with FDR on very much but I do agree with his stand that the Germans needed to be shown that they got their asses kicked. That meant taking the place over entirely. Churchill was pissed when FDR sprung unconditional surrender on the world but that was because Churchill was old school and fought a 20th Century war with a 19th Century imperialistic mindset. Could someone beside Hitler tap into that sense of superiority and destiny? I say yes. Germany was as ready for Hitler as Hitler was for Germany. It was a match made in Hell. You can't kill that many innocent men, women, and children on an industrial scale unless you have murder in your heart. It's like those Manson family girls who tried to pin it all on Charlie and the control he exercised over them. You can't behave that viciously unless Satan himself has set up shop in your soul. Yeah, Hitler knew how to exploit a situation, and he was a true believer, but if he hadn't come along, someone else would have. They may not have been as bloodthirsty, but the Germans, despite their hesitancy and lack of enthusiasm compared to 1914 were itching for a rematch. A lot just didn't like the timeline is all. But they wanted their "rightful" place in the sun.

  21. I don't agree with Dr. Peterson on every issue but he's got integrity and he's willing to stand up and take on the tyranny that exists within Canada because it's his home and he wants Canadians to wake up. I don't think he will be successful but I applaud his bravery and yes, if they come to lock you up Florida will offer sanctuary. Our Governor would tell Castro's kid to go piss up a rope and if he felt like sending down some troops in a canoe or whatever they are equipping their military with he'd say bring it. I say that as an American who served with a Canadian unit and have great respect for a lot of their soldiers but it was a social experiment 20 years ago when I was up there, I can only imagine what it's like now. I remember the Toronto of the 60s and 70s. That was a great city back then. When I moved away from that area in 2010 much of it was already a pig-sty mish mash of cultures in their own little enclaves. We're not the weird ones Mikhaila. Hang around long enough and we'll get that Canadian programming out of you once and for all. I say that as someone who was born there so again, I know a bit of what I speak since I still have a lot family and friends up there. Tell your dad to come down here regardless of what the kangaroo court says. Canada doesn't deserve him. He's right about the former Soviet Bloc countries shaking their heads at us. Communism proves itself to be a failed ideology so what do we do? Elect a guy like obama and say, come on down you crazy marxists, let's have another go at it shall we. "There is this fallacious belief: 'It would not be the same here; here such things are impossible.' Alas, all the evil of the Twentieth Century is possible everywhere on Earth:" ― Alexander Solzhenitsyn.

  23. Is it really a question of ideology or psychology, or is the problem something else entirely: “The wrath of God is indeed being revealed from heaven against every impiety and wickedness of those who suppress the truth by their wickedness. For what can be known about God is evident to them, because God made it evident to them...As a result, they have no excuse for although they knew God they did not accord him glory as God or give him thanks. Instead, they became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless minds were darkened. While claiming to be wise, they became fools...Therefore, God handed them over to impurity through the lusts of their hearts for the mutual degradation of their bodies. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and revered and worshiped the creature rather than the creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. Therefore, God handed them over to degrading passions. Their females exchanged natural relations for unnatural, and the males likewise gave up natural relations with females and burned with lust for one another. Males did shameful things with males and thus received in their own persons the due penalty for their perversity. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God handed them over to their undiscerning mind to do what is improper. They are filled with every form of wickedness, evil, greed, and malice; full of envy, murder, rivalry, treachery, and spite. They are gossips and scandalmongers and they hate God. They are insolent, haughty, boastful, ingenious in their wickedness, and rebellious toward their parents They are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Although they know the just decree of God that all who practice such things deserve death, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.” ― Romans 1: 18-32

  24. The greenies have always been a menace. Ecoterrorism is one of the most under-reported forms of terrorist activity out there. The movement itself is an eclectic group of whack-jobs, dreamers, revolutionaries, anarchists and Marxists. I saw this goofy futurist documentary with some of the craziest of the crazy sets you'd ever meet, including these two guys whose vision for the future was clones with chip implants that simply got switched from one body to the next when the old body got too much mileage on it, that kind of stuff. But the greenie guy took home the gold medal. I won't go into his whole rant because to be honest most of the crap he was spewing was so batsh*t nuts it was the CIA is sending messages through the dryer-lint into my fillings level stuff. Included in his delusion was this maniacal but elaborate formula he worked out through some computer model he created that proved the maximum amount of human beings the planet could handle at any given moment and still maintain a proper balance within the global ecosystem was a little over 500,000. When the guy asked him how we could possibly get to that number he just shrugged and said his job was simply to point out the reality of the global crisis, implementing the solution, the final solution if you will, would have be left to someone better equipped for such work. Really, it was more of a mocumentary than a documentary and I shook my head and chuckled but the thing is, the research these goofballs were carrying out was funded by outfits like the Bill Gates and Ford Foundations. They were crazies, but they were well-funded crazies. And looking back, the lunacy they were proposing 20 some odd years ago is the policy the WEF crowd is pushing today. There is a real anti-humanist movement at play in the world. It is well funded and promoted by the wannabe masters of the universe who refer to themselves as the elites. We used to laugh em off. Now, well now they aren't so funny. Trust me, I'm as far from a tin-foil hat guy as you can get, but there's an old saying; "Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining." If history has taught us anything it has taught us this, when you ignore or dismiss true believers who tell you what they plan to do, you do so at your own peril. Live long and prosper boys and girls. 🖖
