While I was pursuing a MA in Management and Leadership I took a course on labor relations. The theme of the paper I wrote for my capstone project was on the regulatory state, my thesis being that the squeeze they put on small business posed the greatest threat to the American labor force. Not only did the sheer number of regulations blow me away, the audacity of the actual language contained in some them was something else. This drive to create a post-constitutional society is as old as the progressive movement itself. The Roosevelts especially saw the constitution as a nuisance and they taught subsequent generations that you could openly defy the constitution and step way out of bounds and the vast majority of the voters will barely notice. No one stole our republic from us, we gave it away. The Rubicon has been crossed and I fear there is no way back short of a great reset of our own. What will that look like? God help us.
