I imagine if the ship had exploded or burned up in reentry Apollo 13 would have been the final manned flight to the Moon since they wouldn't have been able to nail down precisely what happened after the fact. Who knows, the shuttle program might have gone down with it since people would have rightly asked if sending people up to space was worth the risk.

Avoid Siberia. That place is a space rock magnet. And Paris. It gets killed off in every asteroid movie so there's gotta be something to that.
