@chavaraujo the ironic thing is the majority of ppl scared by microplastics are the very same ppl who wore their masks religiously as if it was saving their lives.. if only they knew 😂

So in summary, Noah: 1) did not come up with the original concept, Jack did 2) did not work on the original code, Jack did 3) did not take on the financial risk of twitter before twitter took off, Evan did 4) did not work for, contribute or assist in any way for the initial explosion of twitter, he sat in the audience watching It seems all that Noah did was convince Evan that Jack's idea had potential and to put him in charge during the early days. Yeah nah, Noah didnt create twitter.

Marketing hype. With over 2 billion insta users and 100 million joining threads thats a conversion ratio of less than 5% From a business perspective, thats a pretty terrible result - when less than 5% of your userbase are willing to click a few buttons to sign-up to your new feature that ain't a roaring success. That's a huge flop - by comparison if the 300k twitter blue subscriptions estimate is accurate out of 400 million total users that's a conversion ratio of 0.075% and these are paying subscribers not free like threads. It essentially reveals that only a small vocal minority need or want a safe space, giving them that on meta doesn't harm discourse on twitter.. no one is going to think, hey you know what's missing on twitter now that ppl have moved to threads.. more overly sensitive ppl that get easily offended and hall monitors silencing wrong-think! 😂

Organic chemistry is well known. This is the reason why results are always inconclusive - they are trying to find connections and links which defy our current understanding of chemistry. It's the F in PFAS which is of concern, not the hydrocarbons for example. We have plenty of hydrogen and carbon in our bodies after all, Fluorine not so much. Glass is not safe either, in the early days of fibre optics many ppl died from glass fibres getting into the blood stream - the body can't break that down either. Plastics have played a vital role in extending life expectancy and many medical breakthroughs over the past century. If plastic was outright banned world wide today nearly all of us would die far sooner from far worse causes. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater comes to mind...

Okay Mr Johnston, i'm processing your application for a loan for a large flat white, which you intend to purchase in Bondi, NSW.. but i see you haven't correctly ticked the boxes indicating the number of sugars to be included. Unfortunately your application has been rejected due to incomplete or missing information. Please ensure you supply as much detail as possible with any future request to ensure a timely response. Current ETA for processing new applications is 2-4 weeks. Thank you, Starbucks customare care 🙃

@khall187 yep a week with relentless promotion in msm - that's long enough that at least 50% of insta users have logged in and NOT clicked the button to join threads. Which sounds better... Over 100 million users sign up to threads in a week OR Over 900 million insta users refused to sign up to threads in a week Marketing hype, Zuckerberg's recent projects remind me of the early internet days.. if you build it they will come mentality 🤣

Shhhhhh dont be all technical.. you'll ruin apple's marketing and enrage the fanbois. Just let them buy their over priced apple product before they realize it's only faster in very niche situations.

Also worth pointing out that only 10% of the 3 million were exports. I will also say that my friend has owned an Atto3 for nearly 12 months now and it has exceeded my expectations. By a lot! It's a great little car and enjoyable to drive... but it hasn't all been smooth sailing. The quality is by no means on par with Tesla and there has been one or two teething issues - not helped by the lack of servicing/repair locations in Aust - but nothing drastic or that has left my friend stranded on the side of the road, it's always been drivable and they got to the bottom of the issues eventually. Plus they provided a loan car for free during the entire time it was "in the shop" getting looked at. All in all i liken it to Hyundai in the 90's - if you're after an affordable EV and can tolerate some growing pains/teething issues as the company matures it's not a bad purchase.. my prediction is they will continue to follow in the same trajectory of Hyundai.if they play their cards right. IE give it 10 years and they'll still be around but with remarkably better quality, cars better tailored towards export markets and more market share.. but they'll never be at the level of Tesla, Mercedes, Ford etc and that's okay. I also don't expect them to remain as cheap, just like Hyundai - except in this case it's more alpng the lines of them being sold below cost to get their foot in the door to export markets, once they get their footing they'll need to at least break even which will result in increased price. Going to be an interesting one watch though, that's for sure...

@dariuspalmer2829 Title: "Japans lost decade" Description: "Japan in the 1990's suffered one of the greatest financial blowouts in history"

Both law suits will win. One of the bedrocks of fair-use copyright, "The amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole" which there are many precedents which boil down to "without the copyrighted material, would it substantially change or alter the infringing material that was produced" ... think of it more in realm of music than vision, Without the authors named work the AI wouldn't comprehend how to produce a style in their name Same sorta deal for getty - they have more work as they'll need to produce similar evidence, ie they must hunt for clear infringements - then they'll pull a napster move, go after the people who generated the AI images first, then the weakest but big AI service (hope they don't pull a napster but i feel they will sadly, as how else will they know which AI service produced the infringing art? means to an ends...)

We, as are all known life forms, are carbon based. Plastic is derived from fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are hydrocarbons that formed naturally in the Earth's crust from the remains of dead plants and animals millions of year ago. Believe or not, all of these hydrocarbon chemicals in scientific terms are referred to as "organic chemistry". Plastic bottles may be synthetically produced, but scientifically speaking are still part of organic chemistry. Any comparison to other substances like lead, asbestos and so on is fear mongering. Inject a mouse full of "micro flesh" from a different animal and it'll have health implications too...

A return of 0.05% on a 10 billion investment equates to merely 5 million profit. That wouldn't even cover the payment processing surcharge for merchants. Not quite sure it's the loyalty program where Starbucks customers are being taken advantage of compared to the price of a cup of coffee... it's not that functionally different to the subway club card, you pay slightly more for 10 foot longs upfront and eventually get a free one (possibly never making it to 10 or never redeeming prior to the points expiring) I mean the company name is STAR BUCKS not STAR COFFEE after all? 🤔

Smoke n mirrors.. its raw per core processing power isnt faster.. all depends on the task or workload as to whether it'll be faster. Still good that they are developing and making mobile computing better.. but its not going to replace AMD/intel in the market for business/gaming. It's really all about the gigga hurtz and those are all about the trans sisters and those are about the nan's which are getting close to atomic level :P

Much like VR and 3D glasses, until they solve the focal point issues they'll never be mainstream or able to be used for prolonged periods of time.. human brains and eyes dont cope optical illusions for long. Everything beyond that, such as cost, software, looks, weight etc won't solve this fundemental issue.

If you're in hospital and they hook you up to a drip, injecting whatever is in the bag straight into your bloodstream... that bag is plastic. Does that shock you?

@BlackPrimeMinister short answer: cost long answer: super computers are used for specific purposes where having a zillion cores that can operate at lower power and generate less heat is advantageous, power and heat are the major hurdles for all datacenters. It all depends on the workload as to what is most appropriate. No need to get ur fanboi emotions all worked up about something u dont understand. Comparing things like terraflops is just a dick measuring contest. There's a place for ARM chips in the market but they arent the be all and end all and they certainly arent going to replace AMD/intel. The apple chip isnt some revolutionary new tech. You wont be playing Cyberpunk 2077 on an ARM based processor anytime soon, worse you won't be running VMware or windows on the new apples anytime soon either. If all you wanna do is casual stuff and dont require any sort of compatibility sure, go get a new MacBook Pro. In the real world they've just cut out a large portion of their potential customer base and many software developers will stop supporting Mac OSX. But you know all this right? Cause you understand all the gory technical details like what a transistor is and nanometers yeah? Why is it that there are no 6Ghz single core desktop processors? Seems like its been stuck in the 3.x range for years...

@TrackDayMaker and you talk like every no-it-all zoomer where you're unable to make a substantive point to back up your claims so just resort to insults. First generation lol.. who manufacturers the M1 chips? I'll give you a hint its not apple despite them holding the patent. The new xbox and playstation have custom patented chips too.. are they first generation and revolutionary too even though they are just another iteration of an AMD chip? Stay in school kid, or go back to it if you want to do well later in life.. or dont and have your co-workers shrug you off as being an imbecile :)

My my how the armchair experts suddenly go quiet.. i rate the fanboi replies 0/10 xoxo

Holy crap do you live in perth?

@Auragin01 do you think Bill Gates built MS DOS/Windows/Office? Or Steve Jobs built the first Apple/Mac/iPhone? Or Jeff Bezos built the first online book store? Elon Musk built the first electric vehicle? If you think the hard part of creating twitter was building the website then why hasn't Noah achieved anything since? Great minds and leaders don't simply have one good idea their entire lives nor are they necessarily the ones who come up with the idea/concept in the first place. What matters is not who gets the bragging rights to say they thought of it first but who actually has the overall leadership and skills to turn an idea or concept into a reality... and that requires far more than building a website (even if the product is a website itself) or cashflow. But sure, lets cry a tear for poor old Noah whose single life changing idea of building a social media platform was stolen from him, right from under him after working so tirelessly on it for months.. how coud he have ever foreseen this from happening and taken steps to prevent it in advance... what an impossible feat for someone with such an impressive mind
1
@Auragin01 what did "they" do to him that was wrong? You've made a lot of arbitrary assumptions about Noah but have said nothing about what exact "wrong" was done to him?
1
@Auragin01 i think the only one of the two of us who is outraged here is you. I asked a relatively simple question and got a response with yet more assumptions, a profanity and yet still no clear answer. In fact, you seem to be asking me to explain it to you with the "what the %/&#" remark?! 🤔 At best i can interpret your rant as "its not what Jack did but rather what he didn't do for Noah that i have a problem with" and it seems to all hinge on interpersonal issues. For the record i think Jack is an absolute tool and an awful person - don't assume my indifference towards Noah is an endorsement of Jack or his behavior. Likewise for many of the other ppl i listed before, i utterly despise Bill Gates' behavior but it's undeniable that he had the biggest influence to Microsoft's success.
1
@Auragin01 what are we disagreeing about? If you aren't able to articulate what "wrong" was done to Noah in a clear and concise manner, then i'd argue that it is you who can't fully grasp the situation or understand the nuances to it, not myself. Having a conversation requires nothing more than open dialogue, so far it seems like you're quite eneaged about something but aren't able to explain it. Cool story bro...?
