Comments by "" (@sirtra) on "How Microplastics Slowly Make Their Way Inside Us" video.
@chavaraujo the ironic thing is the majority of ppl scared by microplastics are the very same ppl who wore their masks religiously as if it was saving their lives.. if only they knew 😂

Organic chemistry is well known. This is the reason why results are always inconclusive - they are trying to find connections and links which defy our current understanding of chemistry. It's the F in PFAS which is of concern, not the hydrocarbons for example. We have plenty of hydrogen and carbon in our bodies after all, Fluorine not so much. Glass is not safe either, in the early days of fibre optics many ppl died from glass fibres getting into the blood stream - the body can't break that down either. Plastics have played a vital role in extending life expectancy and many medical breakthroughs over the past century. If plastic was outright banned world wide today nearly all of us would die far sooner from far worse causes. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater comes to mind...

We, as are all known life forms, are carbon based. Plastic is derived from fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are hydrocarbons that formed naturally in the Earth's crust from the remains of dead plants and animals millions of year ago. Believe or not, all of these hydrocarbon chemicals in scientific terms are referred to as "organic chemistry". Plastic bottles may be synthetically produced, but scientifically speaking are still part of organic chemistry. Any comparison to other substances like lead, asbestos and so on is fear mongering. Inject a mouse full of "micro flesh" from a different animal and it'll have health implications too...

If you're in hospital and they hook you up to a drip, injecting whatever is in the bag straight into your bloodstream... that bag is plastic. Does that shock you?
