Shhhhhh dont be all technical.. you'll ruin apple's marketing and enrage the fanbois. Just let them buy their over priced apple product before they realize it's only faster in very niche situations.

Smoke n mirrors.. its raw per core processing power isnt faster.. all depends on the task or workload as to whether it'll be faster. Still good that they are developing and making mobile computing better.. but its not going to replace AMD/intel in the market for business/gaming. It's really all about the gigga hurtz and those are all about the trans sisters and those are about the nan's which are getting close to atomic level :P

@BlackPrimeMinister short answer: cost long answer: super computers are used for specific purposes where having a zillion cores that can operate at lower power and generate less heat is advantageous, power and heat are the major hurdles for all datacenters. It all depends on the workload as to what is most appropriate. No need to get ur fanboi emotions all worked up about something u dont understand. Comparing things like terraflops is just a dick measuring contest. There's a place for ARM chips in the market but they arent the be all and end all and they certainly arent going to replace AMD/intel. The apple chip isnt some revolutionary new tech. You wont be playing Cyberpunk 2077 on an ARM based processor anytime soon, worse you won't be running VMware or windows on the new apples anytime soon either. If all you wanna do is casual stuff and dont require any sort of compatibility sure, go get a new MacBook Pro. In the real world they've just cut out a large portion of their potential customer base and many software developers will stop supporting Mac OSX. But you know all this right? Cause you understand all the gory technical details like what a transistor is and nanometers yeah? Why is it that there are no 6Ghz single core desktop processors? Seems like its been stuck in the 3.x range for years...

@TrackDayMaker and you talk like every no-it-all zoomer where you're unable to make a substantive point to back up your claims so just resort to insults. First generation lol.. who manufacturers the M1 chips? I'll give you a hint its not apple despite them holding the patent. The new xbox and playstation have custom patented chips too.. are they first generation and revolutionary too even though they are just another iteration of an AMD chip? Stay in school kid, or go back to it if you want to do well later in life.. or dont and have your co-workers shrug you off as being an imbecile :)
