The deepfakes themselves are not the problem, even mis/dis information is not the problem... it's the lack of trust. The way to build trust is reputation. In a digital world, building digital trust will require digital reputation. You want to flippantly post a deepfake thinking it's real? Go right ahead, it's only your digital reputation that will be harmed. Accountability is another key component, you can hide behind an anonymous account.. but when it takes time to build a reputation and only a brief moment to ruin it, online discourse will drastically change for the better.
