  1. The people who say this are exactly the type of people to be cut first. In IT if you think gatekeeping knowledge is a bargaining tool for a raise then you're not as smart or ambitious as you think you are. Learn to mentor, upskill and delegate. A promotion is far better than a raise in the long run.
